Launched in 1985, FIBO is the worldwide leading trade show for Fitness, Wellness and Health.

Every year in April, global decision makers of the industry come to Cologne in search of innovations and the latest trends for their gyms, wellness facilities, doctors and physiotherapy practices, hotels etc.

Whenever they hear the word "FIBO", gym owners and trainers all think immediately of the leading trade show for fitness and wellness. Each year FIBO is a unique market place for ideas and innovations in the fields of fitness-equipment, health promotion, services, nutrition, wellness and beauty, fashion, fun and action.

FIBO CHINA, originated from world’s largest fitness trade show FIBO in Germany, is an international trade show for fitness, wellness and health in China and Asia. The show is organized by the Reed Sinopharm Exhibitions, China’s leading exhibition and conference organizer in the big health field and a joint venture of the Sinopharm Group (China’s pioneering healthcare group) and Reed Exhibitions (world’s leading exhibition group) featuring abundant big health resources and favorable international resources.

FIBO CHINA 2021 attracted more than 450 well-known fitness exhibitors from 29 countries and regions, 27,192 visitors from 61 countries and regions. The number of visitors has increased by six times over the past seven years, and 79% of the trade visitors have the right to make decisions and propose.

Visitors are mainly from fitness clubs/studios, retailers/resellers/distributors, import and export enterprises, rehabilitation/elderly care providers, investment/financial institutions, real estate/hotels, corporate procurement functions, universities and fitness enthusiasts.

In 2016, the Chinese government revealed a series of policies to promote the fitness industry, and specifically stated that the gross scale of China’s fitness and leisure industry will reach 3 trillion yuan by 2025. Both the 2016–2020 National Fitness Plan and the “Healthy China 2030” Planning Outline highlight the in-depth integration of the Fitness for All and Health for All, and aims to develop a robust system that combines exercise and medicine. In 2019, the State Council published the Advice on Promoting National Fitness and Sports Consumption for Quality Development of the Sports Industry, and pointed out that security of factors related to the sports industry shall be enhanced; market vitality and consumption passion shall be stimulated; and the sports industry shall be promoted as a pillar industry of the national economy, and makes regular exercise a lifestyle.

The good news is that China’s economic environment and market is developing in its booming time. The GDP of China increased by 6.6% year-on-year in 2018 and the economic aggregate exceeded 13.6 trillion US dollars for the first time! About China’s fitness market, there are 46 thousand gyms & studios in total, and had a 22.4% increase compared with that in 2017.

However, the membership penetration is still less than 1%, and that is around 5-10% in first-tire cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, which means the market still get huge potential to develop. The number of gyms and studios in those ten first-tire cities takes 31% in all. This market still has huge potential.
